Collserola is the range of hills around Barcelona, and a natural park. It’s highest point, the Tibidabo mountain, rises 516,2 m over the level of the sea (1693.6 feet) and it offers breathtaking views over Barcelona as well as the valleys in the other side of the mountain.
Discover the green lung of the city: its views , its Mediterranean forests and its drinking-water springs. A relaxing day in the nature!
WHAT CAN WE DO IN THE COLLSEROLA HILLS:
- Light to medium hikes. The Mediterranean forrests hide fresh natural water springs, little old ermitages, ancient trees, elements of the old agricultural past… We’ll also learn about the local flora. When in season, we can collect and eat blackberries or cane apples. And take lots of pictures of the local nature!
- Sanctuary of the Holy Heart. The best vantage point of the mountain. An elevator rides you to the top to enjoy the magnificent views. OPEN: Everyday from 10.30am to 2pm and from 3pm to 7pm.
- Collserola Tower. Designed by Norman Foster, this telecommunications antena is another vantage point, even higher than the Sactuary 560m over the level of the see (1837.3 feet). On clear days you can get panoramic views of upto 70km of distance (43 miles).
- Amusement Park. The oldest amusement park in Barcelona: they still keep a couple of rides that are more than 100yo! But don’t worry, everything else is modern rides! CHECK THEIR OPENING HOURS HERE.
- Catalan Lunch. There are plenty of local restaurants off the beaten path were you can eat the way Catalan do!
Distance from Barcelona: 20min.
Difficulty: Easy to medium hikes. Not recomended for people with walking issues. Good walking shoes are recomended!
